5 Signs It's Time for a Dental Checkup

Most people wait until something hurts before they see a dentist. By then, a small problem has usually become a bigger (and more expensive) one. Here are five signs you shouldn't ignore.
1. Bleeding Gums
If your gums bleed when you brush or floss, that's not normal. It's usually a sign of early gum disease, which is completely treatable if we catch it early.
2. Sensitivity to Hot or Cold
A twinge when you drink coffee or eat ice cream could mean a cavity, worn enamel, or an exposed root. It's worth checking out before it gets worse.
3. Bad Breath That Won't Go Away
Persistent bad breath (even after brushing) can be a sign of gum disease, decay, or an infection. Mouthwash is a bandaid — let's find the cause.
4. A Tooth That Looks Different
Discoloration, dark spots, or a tooth that looks different than it used to — these are all worth having us look at. Not everything is a cavity, but better safe than sorry.
5. It's Been More Than 6 Months
Even if nothing feels wrong, regular checkups catch problems you can't see or feel. Cavities, gum disease, and even oral cancer are easier to treat when we find them early.
